On June 1, 2003 Secretary-General Osamu Amano of the Reprocessing and Recycle Technology Division of the Atomic Energy Society of Japan made a special presentation to the Executive Committee of the Fuel Cycle and Waste Management Division of the American Nuclear Society. Mr. Amanofs presentation continues RRTD and FCWMD cooperation in workshops and symposia during the past two years. The presentation discussed Japanfs views on spent fuel disposition, the U.S. Advanced Fuel Cycle Initiative (AFCI) program, and the future of Fast Reactors in Japan. The purpose of the presentation was to expand the knowledge of this important cooperation to FCWMD members. Dr. James Tulenko, Vice President of the ANS also attending the presentation creating broad knowledge of the RRTD/FCWMD cooperation. The presentation was well received and the FCWMD Executive Committee promised to continue cooperation with RRTD including support for the upcoming Global 2005 Meeting in Japan.
