Scope and Topics
The research divisions of Nuclear Materials, Nuclear
Fuel and Fusion Engineering under Atomic Energy
Society of Japan (AESJ) and Korean Nuclear Society
(KNS) have held joint summer schools for summarizing
resent topics and educating young scientists and students.
In 2003, the first Korea-Japan joint summer school was
held at SNU, Korea, cooperated with Core University
Program (CUP) and Corroboration Program under
NIFS Japan and NFS Korea. The 2nd joint summer
school was held at Busan in 2005, where many attendees
joined it; 50 students and 50 lectures from Japan, and 50
students and 30 lectures from Korea. They were
impressive schools for young scientists for both countries,
and proposed next joint summer school to be held in
Japan. Recently, the committee discussed and concluded
that SNU is the best place for the third joint summer
school, because of excellent location.
In this school, we aim to highlight on the recent issues
of safety in advanced fission and fusion reactor systems,
pressure vessel technology, long-life fuels and waist
management technology.
Lectures will be designated from authorities and the
textbook will be published for the general as well as for
this school. Also, students will present their researches in
the poster session. All of attendees can discuss on the hot
topics in the field of advanced energy systems in the
enjoyable city Seoul.
